Dr. Zach Casagrande is the owner and founder of Northern Virginia Orthodontics. He runs eight premier orthodontic practices in the area, and is known as one of the top - if not the top - providers in the country with “over 30,000+ smiles perfected.” He emulates the sky is possible type of mentality. And someone I’ve known for a few years. Here’s a lightning round interview with Dr. Zach Casagrande.

  1. What’s the best investment for under $100?

Books. Authors like Cialdini and Voss.  Business books.  Read them. Read them again.  Cialdini’s Influence and Voss Never Split the Difference.   I use these insights daily for my practice.  Best ROI under $100.

  2. What’s a moment in your career that at the time was a failure… but led to who you are today?

Picking the right person for the right role.  No one gets it right.  It’s part of the game.   Live with it and move on.

  3. Unusual habit that you credit to your career success?

Follow-through.  Follow-through on anything I say.  Let everyone know about my plans and do it.  Massive action beats massive intention.  Don’t be afraid to state your intention.  Put your word behind it—then do it.

  4. Core mantra in one sentence?

    Make an impact.

  5. Bad recommendation that’s touted as “Best Practice” in orthodontics?

Seeing the patient one-time for retention and then never again.  That’s a waste.  No one is too busy to see someone again. That’s your duty right there—to talk to the patients and get to know their families. Treat them for life.

  6. You get to put up a billboard that everyone will see on their way to work— what’s on it?

“The Day You Care More About Your Patients and Team Than Yourself …You’ve Arrived.”

  7. You get to text one sentence to the younger you in residency:

     Enjoy the moment.

  8. The key to building practice wealth?

Make it so that if your team succeeds, you succeed.  You get paid when they get paid… not the other way around.  Do this in business and do this your life.

  9. Core philosophy in one sentence?

I’ll state an idea. Then let everyone know about it.   It makes me have to follow through with it.

  10. Book Zach’s reading in 2025:

The 5 Types of Wealth by Sahil Bloom.

My Take: Double recommendation for Zach’s recommended book, The 5 Types of Wealth. Author Sahil Bloom is who I’m emulating with this newsletter.
