“It's easy to assume that getting rich in money will also mean you are rich in time, but it is often the case that when you earn more money….. you end up with less time and more responsibilities.”

James Clear.

What I Learned:

When you promote something to an orthodontist, time is typically touted as one of the benefits:

Less time in the clinic..

Less time on cases..

Less time in the practice..”

and my favorite ironic request:

Less time spent on meetings with people like me asking for your time.”

In orthodontic profession surveys, time (flexibility) is prioritized over money (i.e. production, growth, and income.)

But orthodontists are ambitious people.

There’s always the need to push for more.

And when you call and visit enough practices, you’ll see money explicitly overtake the value of time even though they state the opposite.

For example, no one seems happy with how they’re practice is doing in 2024. But that’s an assumption based on production, not on time.

This week goes one step deeper on the Orthodontic Hustler (5 Stages of Orthodontists) with five graphs to remind us that time is the ultimate currency - it’s all you have, and you can never get it back.

Let’s rotate the perspective:

Spend your younger years wisely with those you love, in ways you’ll never regret.

“There are differences in the value of appointments, time, and energy on your schedule. Time is your greatest commodity. Value that first, then decide if you want to spend money on tech to get you there.”
